Mr Mbabazi said Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) were increasingly becoming primary vehicles for employment creation and income generation, continuous supply of skills and innovation that were necessary to promote competition and efficiency in the allocation of scarce resources.
“Many initiatives have been started to help SMEs improve their business and financial management skills as well as to broaden the market and increase financing opportunities,” the Prime Minister said.
He said support from the government, the banking sector and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation was catering for the unique SMEs’ banking requirements and creating linkages between them and large businesses.
